Infertility Treatments

As specialists in Reproductive Endocrinology, Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine offers full diagnostic testing and formulate an efficient, effective therapy tailored to you.

  • In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
  • Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
  • Genetic Screening
  • Comprehensive Chromosome Screening (CCS)
  • Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)
  • Egg Freezing
  • Male Factor Infertility
  • Egg Donor Program
  • LGBT Family Building
  • Gestational Carrier (Surrogacy)
  • In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

IVF is the fertilization of an egg by sperm outside the body. Once fertilization has occurred and normal embryo development is confirmed, it is transferred to the uterus. If implantation occurs, the remaining development of the embryo occurs naturally within the mother. IVF therapy may be appropriate for those who are infertile due to blockage or damage of fallopian tubes, endometriosis, or an unexplained cause.

  • Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

With IUI, also referred to as artificial insemination, millions of sperm are placed directly into the uterus when the woman is most fertile, immediately prior to and during ovulation. IUI is best for couples with no known cause of infertility, couples in which the male has decreased semen quality, couples who have infrequent intercourse, women with ovulatory disorders, women with mild endometriosis, or women using donor sperm.

  • Genetic Screening

While most babies are born healthy, there is a small chance with each pregnancy of having a baby with a severe genetic disorder if both you and your partner carry a mutation for the same gene. As part of our comprehensive pre-conceptual testing, we can perform a blood test called the carrier screening, which checks for more than 300 diseases.

  • Comprehensive Chromosome Screening (CCS)

For our patients undergoing In Vitro Fertilization, we offer Comprehensive Chromosome Screening (CCS). CCS evaluates all 23 pairs of human chromosomes in search of abnormalities (aneuploidy). CCS is not necessarily used by all infertility patients, but screening embryos in advance can help achieve higher implantation rates and fewer pregnancy losses, particularly for women 35 years or older, individuals with multiple failed IVF cycles or implantation failure, and couples with repeated miscarriages.

  • Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

We are often able to determine if a particular embryo is carrying a specific genetic disease. Through preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), an embryo can be biopsied and the removed cells can be analyzed for a specific genetically transmitted disease. This enables patients to greatly reduce the likelihood of passing on a genetic mutation to their offspring. These embryos are derived from the In Vitro Fertilization process.

  • Egg Freezing

For many years freezing of fertilized eggs has been a routine part of IVF treatments. New developments in freezing technology however make unfertilized egg freezing now a practical option for those needing donor eggs or wishing to freeze their own eggs. Single women in their early 30s or women with medical conditions that put them as risk for running out of eggs earlier than usual are good candidates for egg freezing.

  • Male Factor Infertility

An evaluation of the male should be one of the very first tests carried out in the diagnostic process of the couple experiencing infertility, as male factors account for a significant portion of infertility cases. We work with several board certified urologists who specialize in diagnosing and treating male infertility. While the type of treatment used will depend directly on how many good quality sperm are available, there are treatment options available for most patients.

  • Egg Donor Program

For many couples, choosing to use donated eggs provides the only realistic option for fulfilling their dream of parenthood. Every donor with eggs available in our egg bank has been screened here, treated here, had their eggs frozen here, and the eggs remain under our care on site. We feel that this ensures uniform screening of the highest standard and a more personalized donor matching experience because of our familiarity with every donor we work with.

  • LGBT Family Building

Deciding to take the first steps on the path to parenthood is exciting. We are proud to assist members of the LGBT community in building their families. We are sensitive to the unique needs of our LGBT patients and develop treatment strategies that are specific to each person or couple. We work closely with sperm banks, gestational carrier agencies, and reproductive attorneys both locally and nationally.

  • Gestational Carrier (Surrogacy)

A Gestational Carrier is a woman that will carry and deliver a child for another couple or person. For the gestational carrier to become pregnant, an embryo (or embryos) is placed into her uterus. These embryos result from IVF treatment, in which eggs and semen are combined. The eggs can be from the patient or an egg donor, but are not from the gestational carrier herself. This assures that the gestational carrier has no genetic tie to the child.
